Homer and Cristina focus on a fusion of open & close embrace tango ideologies while emphasizing the social aspects of connection, musicality, and floor-craft.

Friday September 18

8pm Workshop: THE ART OF FLOOR PLAY (ALL LEVELS) -
This class explores techniques for playful interactions between leader and follower.

9pm to 12:30am MILONGA

Saturday September 19

TANGO WORKSHOPS

Workshops: Ice water provided

11:30am to 1:00pm Workshop: SELECTIVE HEARING (INTERMEDIATE)
Recognizing and emphasizing four categories of musical expression: Rhythm, Melody, Transitions,and Lyrics.

1:15pm to 2:45pm Workshop: BARRIDAS (INTERMEDIATE)
Learn an 'organic' technique to lead/follow based on the turn.

3:00pm to 4:30pm Workshop: BOLEOS (INTERMEDIATE)
Explores the body-centered "send" and "rebound" energy needed to create the whip-like action and four categorical shapes the follower can choose to employ.

CONCERT AND DANCE

11:00am to 12:30pm Workshop: NOW THERE'S A CATCH (INT-ADVANCED)
Stops, traps, grabs - fun movements that employ musical breaks and rhythmic accents, with lifts.

12:45pm to 2:15pm Workshop: VOLCADAS AND BEYOND (INT-ADVANCED)
Build on the fundamental structure of leading and following basic forward and backward volcadas into several expanded concepts.

2:30pm to 4:00pm Workshop: STEP OVER COLGADAS (INT-ADVANCED)
Break down the anatomy of several kinds of step-over colgadas while reinforcing their basic principles.

JAM SESSION

6:00pm to 7:00pm FREE JAM SESSION PRACTICE: Homer's latest obsession is the double- bass. Join him in learning a tango piece. Musicians and singers welcome.(see details below)

7:00pm to 10:00pm FREE PRACTILONGA with performance by the Jammers
